Somali Child Soldier in partnership with Guryasamo Voluntary Organization is planning to buy 3 acres of land and build up a well equipped boarding school that can provide accommodation upto 60 children for the sustainability of this project.
FUTURE PLANS
(How
our pilot project centre would be like)
This
is the first of many other centres we would like to build across the
country cost permitting. The first one which is on Mushani will sit on 3
acres of land and it will be comprised of:
1.
2 large Dormitories each equipped with beds and washrooms capable of
accomodating 25 kids per dorm.
2.
2 technical schools whose classes will include: literature studies,
plumping, electricity, carpentary, brick making, and driving classes
3. 2 playgrounds: one soccer pitch, once basketball court and a gym.
4. 1 prayer place
5. 1 bus
6. water
reservoir
7. 1 food kitchen
8. 1 infermary
9. Radio
10. 1 Warehouse
11. Office
12. Airport Strip where small airplanes can land
*
The monthly cost for running the centre including food, medicine,
transportation, wages, potable
drinking water and gasoline is $900.00 Candian Dollars. In order to
prioritize our expenses
and also run a sustainable community centre, we envisage using solar panels
for cooking
and also for harnessing energy.
*
An estimated $25, 000.00 Candian Dollars will build this centre and that
will include construction material, labour and equipment.
These are the equipments that
we are kindly asking the public or any corporation to donate us with:
a)
Solar Panels
b)
Ambulatory equipments
c)
Gym equipments
d)
Small radio equipment
e)
used clothing
f)
Medicine
g) Books
The project " Gun's
for dollars" introduced by the UNDP, couldn't work because of the
high investment it required, since there is an ocean of weapons in Somalia. Perhaps
taking an educational approach and creating jobs would be a logical
alternative.
